Where the roller sits decides the type. Carrier rollers support the loaded top run of the belt. Impact rollers, with rubber rings, sit under loading and transfer points where material falls onto the belt. Return rollers support the empty belt on the way back; rubber-disc return rollers also help shed material that sticks to the belt.
For a flat (single-roller) station, the roller is wider than the belt so the belt can wander slightly without running off the edge. In our catalogue a 650 mm belt uses a 750 mm carrier roller, a 1000 mm belt a 1150 mm roller and a 1200 mm belt a 1400 mm roller. The table below shows every standard combination.
If you are replacing an existing roller, always measure the old one: the frame decides the overall length between the shaft ends, not the belt alone.
As a rule of thumb, wider belts, faster belts and heavier material call for a larger roller diameter. A larger diameter turns more slowly at the same belt speed, which is gentler on bearings and seals. Our carrier rollers run from Ø60 to Ø159 mm; impact and return rollers from Ø108 to Ø219 mm (outside diameter of the rubber).
When replacing, keep the diameter of the existing rollers so the belt line stays level.
The shaft must fit the slots of the idler frame. Standard shaft diameters are 20, 25, 30 and 40 mm. The shaft ends come in two versions:
Bigger shafts carry bigger bearings. Our rollers use sealed deep-groove ball bearings to DIN 620 (6204, 6205, 6206, 6305, 6306, 6308) with a polyamide labyrinth, an NBR lip seal and three O-rings to keep dust and water out. For dusty, wet or explosive environments, tell us at the quote stage: ATEX versions are available.

Our rollers are built to DIN 22112-3 (conveyor idlers), with bearings to DIN 620 and steel pipe to EN 10219.
We also quote custom-made rollers: non-standard diameters and lengths, special shaft ends and bearings, rubber lagging or coatings. Send a drawing or the measurements of your old roller.
The minimum is 10 pieces per SKU. Volume discounts start at 50 pieces (−10%), 100 pieces (−20%) and 500 pieces (−28%).
Every standard roller has a published price and free STEP / IGES / STL files. Add it to the cart for an instant indicative quote; an engineer sends the official quote within 2 working days.
